Question Smarty Jr. please explain!! Bob or Marco

I found this in the user guide.

"It is recommended that you do not store your Smarty Micro Tuner in your vehicle if ambient
temperatures in your area fall below 32°F. Excessively low temperatures can cause malfunction or
damage to Smarty Micro Tuner that is not covered by the MADS warranty."

The thing is shipped in -zero temperatures, does that mean it's already destroyed, Personally I don't think so but with my luck and computers........
I know you shouldn't program in temperatures lower than 32*F but I don't see how storing it in subzero temps should hurt it, could Bob or Marco please enlighten me?

Since it's already been -20*F and I don't have a heated garage..........could I just warm the truck up to operateing temperatures, shut it down and then program the truck ECM......I would think that's o.k. but want to know for sure? Hate to screw things up.

Thanks,

Just keep it in your house until ready to program. It only takes a couple minutes to do.

I figured that plus warm up the truck just to be safe but why not store it in the truck if it can be shipped in subzero temps you should be able to store it in subzero temperatures. Just don't try programming without warming each up first.

This all makes common sence, is the paragraph in smartys guide just for those who do not have common sence???

Never had to worry about it too much where I live, but your idea should work, as long as it makes you happy. I'd do it that way to just to be safe too.

Yep, like the warning label on the hair dryer that says "Do not use while taking a bath".

I have the same concerns. It was shipped here where the high's during the day dont get to 32*F and i'm sure it saw some temps at or near 0*F in transit to get here.
I can see not programming in those temps, I just hope its OK now that it has already seen those temps.

The display should be the only thing effected by the cold....the electronics part will actually work better.
