Scary

I just got through installing my edge comp. OH WHAT A FEELING!! I hope my turbo makes it through the weekend. I was able to bury the speedometer in the dash, achieved 46 lbs of boost (could have got MORE), 1400 degrees only briefly, WHAT A RUSH! I have got to pull my turbo off & unweld my wastegate. Now I need to get a turbo to handle this kind of boost. Does anyone have a cost effective way of doing this? I really don't want twins, and I don't want to waste money on a hybrid that cannot handle anymore boost. I still need to be able to pull my 11,000 pound boat. So I NEED some help with this. I cannot control my RIGHT foot, so please advise. THANKS!!

A PDR HX 40 should be about right for you. Or maybe a 40/35 hybrid. Call piers up or visit his website www.piersdiesel.com. He should be able to help ya out.

THANKS BIGBLUE, as I mentioned, I think the HYBRID is a waste of money. Unless,I have been misinformed, the HYBRID will not handle any more boost than the 35, so I guess I will have to look at a 40. How much boost can it take? Am I giving up the quick spool up with the 40? I need to be enlightened about the 40, so please advise.

I would look into the tougher B series turbo's which Wildcat diesel sells. If you plan on doing more mods down the road yoy may end up selling the hx40 for a b series anyways. I would look at a ksb1b turbo for your truck. The hx40 can only handle 40 psi as well that is where its wasted to. The b1 I am running is unwasted I run 50 psi with my truck. Depending on the b1 you choose as well you will get more of an EGT reduction. Im running a b1KS which spools very quick but also brought my egt from 1500* with my hx 40 to 1250-1300* now with the b1ks.

I am sure that someone with more knowledge will get to this thread eventually. But from what I have read here - more than 45lbs of boost puts your head gasket at risk. The next thing you will need to do is ad either o rings or fire rings. The other thing I have read - is that at 45lbs of boost with the HX35 your drive pressures are probably as high.

FWIW to keep the temps under control when I tow, I leave the box off.

Good luck
