Pros- Clean burning, high octane fuel.

Cons-Lower power unless compression is raised, valve cooling problems in engines that are worked hard, high fuel consumption, complicated fueling procedures, fuel sometimes hard to find, if you pay the road tax on the fuel it's taxed at the same rate as gas but a gallon doesn't get you as far, can flatten your garage if you have a leak. Hard starting in very cold weather is not problem where you live.

Unless your dad gets propane for free I would not encourage him to do this, it's a big hassle for no gain if you have to buy the propane.

The company I drive for sells and delivers propane but none of the vehicles are propane powered. That should tell you something.
