Removing gear off the P7100?
I know this might be a stupid question, but to remove the gear:?? 1.remove the nut and washer. 2. Do I screw two bolts in the gear and push it off? Also is there a key on the back side to line up when going back together? I'm doing the KDP damage replacement timing case. Thanks...

You can try bringing the engine to TDC and then push the timing pin into the back of the pump gear, then remove and make sure you don't roll the engine over, but I wouldn't recommend it. I don't know how long its been, but they can (and do) slip time. I would re-time it and possibly consider bumping it up depending on your mods.
Here's the procedure:

I have to remove the timing case due to the KDP cracking it. So the pump has to be completly removed from the gear and case. Is there a way I can mark the shaft on the pump. I now have the crank, cam, and pump all aligned. Is that what you mean by TDC?

TDC = Top Dead Center
Your crank and cam can be lined back up using the marks on their gears. If you start with the engine at TDC, you can put those back. Also at TDC, there's a pin in the back of the timing case that engages a slot in the back of the pump gear. If you have all of these lined up and could pull the gear off the pump without rotating the pump, you "could" do it. I don't know that you mark the pump shaft well enough to line everything back up again, I still think it would be best to just re-time it when you get it back together.

first pin the engine, you can set the pump with it off the truck if you're off a little, the plug on the side there is a pin that you pull out and turn around to lock in place, it has a pin on one end and on the other is a place for the slot to fit in.
