It might be a loose crank position sensor also, I would check the crank and cam position sensor and make sure that they both are connected good then I would take it to the dealer and let them look at it. Mine has done something similar before while driving for extended periods of time (10+ hrs) but it is because of a loose wheel speed sensor. Both my tach and speedo drop then come back up.

I'm thinking a crank/cam position sensor being bad would have a change in engine RPM along with the change in tach sweep. In my case the tach needle position would change 3-400 RPM with no change in engine RPM. Believe me you can definatly here a 3-400 change in engine RPM's.

i still need to take mine in but just dont have the time now. anyway, my idle will go down to 100-200 rpm's. cruising along it will fluctuate around, then when i go to accelerate, it will shot up to where it should be usually. sometimes it goes to 4000 rpm's, which their is no way this stock engine will spin that fast.

FINIALLY someone else has posted up with this problem! I posted a thread a long while back and got no responses. Mine's out of warranty so I'm not sure what to do about it.
