power steering
This is a question for My 4bt but I believe it is almost the same as the one I have on the 6bt minus the VP.
There is some nasty very thin fluid in it right now (don't blame Me I just bought it) and I want to drain it and refill. I bought some 3qt of ps fluid I was thinking I would start the engine, disconnect the low pressure house coming from the ps pump, let the fluid out and start filling it with ps fluid until it came out clean then put the hose back and fill it all the way. Any other way to get this done? Any of You add Lucas ps additive to theirs?
Thank You.

This one is in a GMC with hydroboost and I also put a cummins in My ford and although I have a VP on it now I will remove it and use a psd electric VP since I also put a hydroboost on that truck and I only need vacuum for the vent controls. Thank You.

Heck that I don't know, Mine is on My step van but I have two stories one that it came originally with a 292 392 engine and they swapped the 4bt and the previous owner said it came originally with that engine, I thought he was full of edit but when I ordered some parts for it the guy at cummins told Me it was manufactured in 1986 and the van is a 1987.

Well I flushed all the fluid out and it smelled like ATF a little strong too. I filled it with valvoline steering fluid and seems to work just the same, I just feel better that is it new fluid and the appropriate type too.
Thank You all.
Thank You all.
