Possible hub bearing failure
Possible hub bearing failure
Has anyone run into a frt hub bearing failure yet on there Megacab? I have an 06 with 41k. My rgt frt is making a clicking noise at slow speeds and pretty noticable roaring at hwy speeds. By the way it is 4wd. Any help on this would be great.
Thanks

I had one replaced on my 03 @ about 25k. I don't think the 03 and 06 use much different front ends.
After a trip down the hwy, feel the wheel/rim, if it is hotter than the other side its a good indication of your problem.

Yeah sounds like a wheel bearing!! I have gone through 3 sets!!! Wish they would put a grease zert so you could add some grease. With the weight those front ends carry plus the heat sink they get from the rotors the grease just cooks out of them! But dodge says they are a sealed lifetime bearing that never needs grease!! yeah right!!
It should be! but I dont have any experience with it all my probs come after warranty but after a few months I was out of warranty HAHA!!!
When I bought my first hub it was $600 over the counter each. Then about 6 months ago I got them just a tad under $300 each and they were in stock the first ones I got I had to order and wait almost a week to get them!
Anybody needing the front hub assembly might wanna look here....www.ebatmus.com. $214 and change. Part # BR930502.

WOW that is high!! well I have changed mine several times!! You can get the bearings for right around $600 dodge cost and if you can change a tire and do a brake job you can change your hub!!!!
Why in the world have you not gone to a manual hub setup? With as much as you drive it would benefit you alot.
Why are these bearings going out? Is there a common factor that is causing it? Big tires, deep water, salt spray, snow plows? These are suppose to be good bearing design and hold up well fore some. I have 3 years and 50K and am getting nervous reading about failures of bearings and ball joints. I am all stock and nothing gets wet in So Cal.

. $1100 to replace both!
