oil pressure

I want to check what my oil pressure really is, at idle. Can I use a fuel pressure gauge, and screw it into the oil filter housing?

Would that work? If it can measure gasoline, couldnt it measure oil?

If it reads more then 80 psi it will work if it reads less you could over range it. because the oil pressure runs on the high side

A standard mechanical pressure gauge can't tell what fluid it's sensing - whether it's water, air, oil or fuel.
