oil change already?

I just have 3000mi on my truck and the message center is telling me I have to do an oil change already. With my old truck I would weight about 7000mi before change. Its been mixed driving but nothing hard on the truck yet. Can you reset it or is it automatic?

Did you read your user manual to see if this is normal? (Not being sarcastic.)

Depending on how much and what type of usage, the newer computers actually take into account the oil condition due to usage and fuel dilation, so yes, Id say its possible. Besides, I would have changed it even sooner. I always drop the first oil change at about 1000 miles on a new vehicle. Let it shake everything loose and self purge.
