By sluggish I mean it takes a few seconds to go into od.If under throttle it takes longer.

I`m not runnin a tps.I had problems with it and installed a potentiometer.OD worked good for a while.I noticed today it doesn`t want to sift into Od until 55 or 60, and only under excessive throttle. And then it seems to kick out below 60 and won`t kick back in unless under throttle. Also I have adjusted the potentiometer and serviced the trans.!st through drive work fine.

Try throwing a manual switch on the OD solenoid to see if it does the same thing when you turn it on. If so, the OD is slipping.

Where is the OD solenoid. If it is slipping I guess the best would be a tranny overhaul?

OD solenoid is on the driver's side of the trans. Look for the plug with 2 wires. Ground the one that's NOT blue for overdrive on demand.

I grounded the NOT the blue wire and OD worked.I drove it around awhile,it kicked in every time I engauged the switch. What does this mean,is there any way to fix this.Or would it be OK to leave it on a manual switch. Thanks for the great recommedations, you guys are wealth of knowledge.

A couple guesses - first, does the voltmeter bounce around when the OD acts up? If so, look closely at the crank sensor wires. Does the speedo stay steady when it drops out of OD? If it doesn't, look at the speed sensor.

Check for flaky connections in your pot wiring, and make sure the pot hasn't gotten crusty from road spray.

It's OK to keep the manual switch for backup.
