OD & CC where did they go?

Everything been's too good. No problems, tranny holding up until I can get my 47RH built...
Then the other shoe dropped - big time.

Lost OD and CC yesterday. I've checked the wires and plugs. All seems to be ok.

Speedo and tach still work so I don't think it's the PCM...

Anyone have any ideas ?

Thanks in advance.

PS I'm not against hard wiring a switch for the OD but really miss the CC...

PCM has nothing to do with the speedo, they share the VSS. A working speedo does not mean that the PCM is getting the message.

I would check continuity between the orange/white wire on the VSS plug and cavity 47 (also has an orange/white wire - go figure) on the PCM plug.

I'm assuming your truck has not been converted to an old style voltage regulator?

That is strange !
I'll check it in the AM. That's one wire and plug I didn't check...
No I haven't converted regulators.

OK, so we know the crank sensor is good.

Which is which - and is the + 5v or 12v ?

If the horn doesn't work, wouldn't this point to the clock spring?

Yes if the horn and cruise dont work then the clock spring is most likely broke.

The reason I asked... My wifes former '00 Plymouth mimi-van dropped the CC & something else on the steering wheel (radio controls?), but the horn continued to function. Ended up being the clock spring anyway... luckily only $59 "dealer cost" from my 5Star wrencher bud to throw in after work one day.

Wouldn't even let me buy him a cold one for his trouble!

The dark blue wire is 12 volts when the key is on. The PCM supplies ground through the other wire.

So the VSS signal is getting to the PCM...

Will the truck start in Drive?

No

AS I said - everything I could check appears normal.
A/C works, tach works, speedo works...

I'm real close to hardwiring a switch for the OD...IF no other reason than to check and see if the problem is mechanical...
I don't think the CC will kick in unless the OD is on. I don't remember trying to engage CC with the OD locked off...

Start the truck, unplug the NSS, and go for a ride. See if you get OD and cruise back.

Check for a ground at cavity 30 on the PCM connector with the shifter in Drive.

NSS What's that? Did you mean VSS?
