how is the respons with the new stix? any temp issues?
Juniorphil
07-03-2007, 05:49 PM
Down low the response is close as being with just the smarty, but once it climbs to higher rpm where the smarty fell off the stick just keep going. The truck pull hard all the way past 3000, in which i saw so far.
No temp issues but have not had a load on it yet.
Could only imagine what a turbo or turbos would do, and another box to stack[duhhh]

Here's some of the pics from when the flatbed was finished. Looks a little dopey but the mud flaps finished it off nicely. Learned a few things and would do it differently next time, but it came out pretty well considering it was my first time and I was pretty much winging it from the start.
It was snowing pretty badly when the guy came to pick up the truck (Feb 14) and those Cooper M+S tires REALLY bite even with nothing back there (not sure what the bed weighs though?)

It was a good truck but it wasn't exactly appreciating, so hopefully the house will ;) I'd rather have 4x4 around here anyway - we just got back from the outer banks and the wife wants a 4x4 next time so we can drive out on the beach so I am trying to figure out what could be a "cheap" project - isn't that an oxymoron [duhhh]

I don't think these Wed/Thurs meets work to well for me, typically work till 7 both nights and after that, it is sll but lights out... I will be seen somewhere again though... [roll]
On an intersting side note, just threw my tow stacker back in after running the performance for a while. Popped the hood to check oil, have a quick look over the engine. After all this time, I just rediscovered the Trojan which mysteriously showed up on my batt. @ the wrench day[laugh] . It had fallen down and back and was resting on some wire harnesses and tubes. That was good fer a chuckle... Also, Steve I have been meaning to tell you that I still have your teflon tape as well. It is in the truck, next time I see ya remind me.[duhhh]

We should really try to get a weekend get together assembled again, might have better luck for turnouts. Not that I really know how many are showing up at the car shows[dummy] Seeing several names popping up that I haven't met, must be time for another BS session[coffee]
BTW, keep your eyes peeled fer a truck for sale: 3rd gen quad cab, SRW, 6 speed. Cousin is starting to really look for his upgrade[guitar] I traveled 2 hrs. to get mine, trying to save him the drive[laugh]

ohyeahfriday
07-09-2007, 10:33 PM
Not this guy, I have actually started working later recently. Started brush-hogging, got off the tractor tonight @ 10 for the second time in a week, probably be more of the same for the next week or so, depending on what else comes up.
Any wrench day day interests? I am thinking about an Amsoil Nano, Bypass oil filter set up and maybe an improved steering stabilizer <-- this last ride up to the g/f's was very very aggravating...[verymad]

mikmaze
07-10-2007, 07:47 PM
sounds like fun Pat, my truck is pufferless for now, had to disconnect the smoke switch, last two tiems i tired it, it sent the truck into runaway, wot. but just to show you how good a friend I am, there is an aurora 500o in the classifieds for 1500 bux, would clear your smoke right up...........

I saw that Mike, trying real hard not to pull that trigger yet. As much as I would love to throw in a new turbo/sticks/fuel delivery system, I really should save for a house. Hoping to be in one of those this year. If I go for the stabilizer/amsoil/bypass system, that will be the last big planned investment for a little while. Maybe one of the improved fuel filtration systems.
Cool, newer guy than me [laugh] Welcome to the board, look forward to meeting you one of these days.
speaking of which, when are we doing a Sat/Sun. thing so I can actually partake? I see PA has one going in August, see if I can do that one or not, got a couple weddings comin' up here[nonono]

Any interest in this weekend for something?
FYI, I just found out about some open drag racing down the local airport runway. It is $20 for run all night, just have to wear a helmet. Sounds like there are already some diesel trucks running, figured it might be of interest. They run the first Friday night of every month from what I have gathered.

Hey guys, sorry I haven't posted in awhile. I have been extremely busy with work, softball, and I have had a rough two weeks because my grandmother died. I wish I could make it out to a car show this week, maybe next Wednesday I could make the Wyckoff show and catch up.
[director] ATTENTION ALL THIRD GENNERS: CHECK THE BOLTS ON THE SKID PLATE UNDER THE TRANSFER CASE. I noticed a loud rattle everytime I closed the driver doors. Turns out that one of the skid plate bolts was gone and the nut off the other one was gone. Went and switched one from the passenger side (which were both there) and bolted it up to the drivers side while I wait for my $1.35 bolts to come Wednesday. I am glad I noticed it now before I drove 3.5 hours into PA and had my skid plate crash down on the side of route 80. Guess they make these trucks fall apart after 65k.:(

well you guys missed a heckuva mael. 3 whole slow cooked pigs, tons of other food, the Helo showed up on time and gave a great low pass show, then touched down and crew came and ate with us, they ran two 50 50's one just under a grand to the winner, the other just over. not me either one.. Music this year ws by gunsmoke. We should think about getting together for something like this yearly, plenty of room for more people. gonna img one pic and link a few more to save the server..........

i bought it from rt 15 honda they r now owned by kosco harly a bunch of good guys there. did u buy your bike from 23 honda:(
but if u arent going to reg. or insure it i would get it out of state u will save some coin
how did u debadge your truck? what was the easiest way that u found?
ohyeahfriday
07-23-2007, 10:07 AM
As far as debadging, I have heard to let the truck sit in the sun for a while, or use a heatgun to warm them up, then slide some fishing line behind them, it is supposed to just cut them right off. Then use some adhesive remover, and polish it up pretty. <--- haven't tried yet myself, so I can't swear to it.
I bought my 450 @ Rt. 15 as well, decent bunch of folks. If you want to go out of state to get a better deal, depending on how long you are interested in waiting, there is a place called Rusty Palmer. They will be opening their new store in Honesdale, PA sometime in the future, and it will probably be a big blowout type of deal, in their new multi million (like 15+) dollar "home"

Have you seen the new building they are working on? It is going to be crazzzzy. The owner actually had a log cabin placed on the roof of the building to be his personal office :o Then they planted some trees and crap up there as well.
My g/f is from the Honesdale area, so I am up there rather regularly.

I got my Grizz from Hanover Honda, and won't be doing business there again. Let's just say that they screwed with a friend of mine who bought a quad there on my recommendation. I do plan on registering and insuring it, so I will be buying it in state. I will definetly check out Route 15 Honda and see if I can work out a good deal. I have heard good things about them. Thanks for the help!
BTW, anyone know a place where I could store a 6x10 trailer? Nothing would be stored on it, and if it is one of you guys, I would pay a couple bucks a month for your space. I don't have room at the townhouse here for a trailer. Thanks.

No, I havent seen the new building but I would like to get out there. they have a lot of used quads and I might be in the market for a 250R.
I almost bought my quad from Hanover Honda they seemed nice to me. check out rt. 15 if u ever need parts talk to Scott he is mad  and will hook u up. Debadging is easy heat gun and fishing line or something to pull badges off with because heat gun makes everyting HOT[verymad]

I will say that Wednesday is the only possibility for me, depending on weather/work. This weekend is no good, going to g/f's in PA for a party.
Next weekend should be good for doing something, except I think that is "fair time" so driving around up here becomes somewhat of a commuters 4ell. But on a brighter note, I think that Sat. is the tractor pull, they may let trucks hook to the sled after tractors finish[coffee]

did you follow this? http://www.dieseltruckresource.com/dev/showpost.php?p=1608094&postcount=21
seems to be pretty simple. You can not leave the switch on for more than I would say 30 seconds, and that is max, DO NOT start the truck with the switch on...... make sure you know which way the switch is set, whcih way connects, vs breaks the connection........ to clear the CEL, start and shut down truck about ten times, leave it run a few between start and stops, making sure the smoke switch is OFF.

He is not a young guy, and I saw him @ the Wayne County Fair a couple years back. He was funny, and active, not just standing there singing. He was running around, jumping all over, couple quick skits...

What time does the Riverdale show start? I may make an appearance if you guys will be there as well.
Went and looked at a few places about a quad, pretty much settled on where I am going to buy it. Dealership is going to give me about $700-800 off the price as well as 10% off accessories (which I was getting before). I took a ride up to Route 15, and they tried to sell me a Foreman that had a lot of scratches, a dent, and two places on the rear rack that were broken and re-welded for the same price as a new one.
Had a nice day today weather wise, just hot as anything. Only three more weeks of camp until I get to relax for a week at the shore, and than back to school on 9/4. Got the State Police physical test on 8/29, wish me luck!

Well, back from the fair, pulls were pretty decent, modified tractors.trucks.
Brother and cousin hooked in the diesel class, cousin took 2nd with his '00, brother took 3rd with his '03, both 6 speeds. I would love to tell you that I finished in the top 5, which is true, but there were only 5 entrants[dummy]
yeppp, I actually did it, can't believe it but I did, distance was like 271 and change, could have had more, but I was skeered of busting my daily driver, so I cut it off when the sled started tuggin' hard. eh well, at least I can say I tried it...

I was 5th place down at the Warren county fair, that was out of close to 25 trucks in the "modified diesel class" they run. And that was with my 93.
Wish I could have been up there, but there was too much going on here for me to do. Had to work on a truck for a friend before he left to go back to south Carolina, drill and tap for pyro and boost, he was hesitant to do it by himself.
Then I had to haul round bales and pick tractors up from the warren county fair.

Home again, truck pulls in PA were decent, a worked up 3rd Gen CTD took 1st, only full pull. Few pics from the event, couple vids, but unfortunately I have an old digital cam and it was dark by the time the pickups started, so not the greatest quality.
some nice miter cuts with rain caps:

Tom, what are you getting anyway, or have you decided? What ever happened in your trailer search?
BTW, tomorrow should also be bike night @ The Chatterbox, weather permitting. They had a killer turnout last week :o

Keith, would like to get together with you guys soon, not sure when that will be.....
I have decided on buying a Foreman 500 ES with a plow. Keeping it stock I think, but may add some better tires for the snow. I am taking my girlfriend with me on Saturday to look at one and possibly buy. As far as a trailer goes, I am doing that on Saturday as well. Going up to Performance Trailer in Flanders to check them out. My friend and I found a place to store equipment in Boonton, so I will probably keep my plow, trailer, lawnmowers, and all other junk there.
You guys going to Riverdale tonight?

Signed the papers today for a new '07 Foreman 500 4X4 with the electric shift and a nice 52" plow. Have to wait a week for the red one I want (err, wife wants) and than I am ready to go riding. We should definetly get a group ride together, maybe Paragon or Rausch Creek for a weekend? Of course, we could always do some back trails and look behind us every once in a while for johhny lawman..........
Saw the Conductor at Target today and he mentioned the PA meet in a few weeks. Sounds interesting to me, anyone else thinking of going? Would be sweet if we had a NJ convoy rolling up through PA. Maybe I will have my horn hooked up by then.

Island is a piece of cake to get to. 80W to exit 19, left on 519 and take that all the way into town, than follow road (I believe route 46) up to sign for Island and make a right.
Might as well remind everyone here: [director]September 15th is the Diesel Nationals @ Englishtown. Last year we rolled down about 4 deep, hopefully this year we can double that number. We can meet at the Exxon station again in Montville or somewhere on 287. Mike and I had talked about bringing a grill to save some $$$ on food and drinks. Post up if you are interested in going down.

You want to register for 10K I am guessing, this is going on memory, which is scarce, but: there is a box for choosing a class or "code" on the front of the reg. application card, write "15" in there, and to the right of there it will have a box for requested weight or # of passengers. write in there 10,000 or 10,001, I don't think either makes a difference. Make sure to check non-commercial on the back, unless you are such. Commercial = $$$... anymore questions, ask and if I don't know off hand, I will find out for you.
*this is on a fresh reg. card like you get @ MV, if you just have a renewal card in front of you, I don't think you can do this. In that case, you have to go to them and get a new card to do all this.
Kinda didnt figure you knew them Angelo, just figured I'd check. I have heard of the size of the locals :o

Plus side, I got my quad yesterday and am about 95% done with the plow install. Still need to make the necessary adjustments as well as fix the problem of the plow not staying up when raised. Would like to try it out soon...anyone up for a ride?
