new exhaust

Just got a new 4" motoblue turbo back system and the instructions say "make sure the louvers inside the muffler tube face forward, toward the engine". I am wondering what will happen if I put it backwards, louder maybe? Less resonation, or more? Anyone know about the effect of those little louvers?

I have been told it will be slightly louder, dont know about drone. All I can say is just wait, you will be sooooo happy. I've had mine on about 2 months and still find myself rolling down the window and stepin on the go button , If you dont mind turbo sound you might wana take the silencer ring out and install a BHAF.

I took out the silencer ring and have the AFE intake, it's a little too much whistle so I'm going to try and use a dremel and remove about half of the silencer ring, re install it and see what that's like.

Anybody got ideas about 4in vs 5in turbo back exhaust. Getting ready to buy one or the other.

Lots of posts mention BHAF(big honkin' air filters). Is this a brand, or just posting langauge for something other than stock air box. If brand, where can I get one.

Not going to use K&N.

From what I understand if your not running more than 500 hp a 5in exhaust is really only gona hurt power, as for the BHAF its just slang, go to teck facts for the part #'s you can find them at NAPA

triplem383,

The guys are right unless you're at or over 500 RWHP 4 inch is plenty. We have 5 inch too but sell 4 inch 20 to 1 over 5 inch. We have aluminized, T-409 and T-304 stainless steel systems as well as dual in all three materials too. Call us if you have any questions etc.

I installed my muffler with louvers facing backwards. It sounds nice IMHO. I have the same MotoBlue exhaust.
