New addition to the family

New addition to the family
For the last couple of years my wife stood by me and watched me pour money into my baby (CTD). Shes been driving a very impractical mustang GT conv. for the last few years. I say its impractical due to our two kids that have to sit in the back of that sardine can. The trunk was good for two grocery bags at best. Not to mention, not the safest car on the road. About a month ago we started test driving new vehicles. We drove the new Charger R/T, Magnum R/T, Mega Cab & Jeep Commander, in that order. She fell inlove with the Commander. The Thought of having a seven passenger four wheel drive vehicle was appealing to the both of us. But we werent to keen on the exterior styling. Some time went by and we saw a few on the road....and they started to become more and more appealing. We've been wanting to get rid of the GT before the weather got bad. The car handles horribly in the rain. I asked her if she would be willing to sell the GT and drive my CTD for 4-6 months and I would drive my work truck. She agreed. She has been obsesing over this Jeep for a while and she wanted it bad. The poor girl has always got my hand me downs, as I typicly get a new truck every 2 years. So I decided I would surprise her. I came home yesterday, mid day and told her I would take the Mustang in for a long overdue service. She bought it. I took the car, got it cleaned and went straight to the nearest Jeep dealership. A friend of mine works there as a sales guy. He really took care of me. I picked a new commander Limited 4x4, fully loaded leather GPS, all the bells and whistles & yes w/ the 5.7 HEMI ( no diesel available yet ) I drove it home and parked down the street, walked up to the house. When I got in I told the kids I needed to talk to mom alone. She sat down with this worried look on her face. I said honey I'm sorry I lied to you there was a pause, I senced she was getting PO'd so I told her I didnt take the car in for service, I got rid of it and your new Commander is outside. The poor girl was so shocked she started to cry, it was like the day I proposed to her. It was awsome. A nice early Xmas present. So yes I own a HEMI, never thought that day would come, Like Tracy Byrd says.... If moma aint happy, aint nobody happy. She got what shes been dreaming of and thats pretty cool, seeing how I always got the toys and not her. Sorry if this is long, just thought Id share. Ill post some pics real soon

Cool, it feels good to take care of the little woman doesn't it. I have to remind myself of that every so often. They are our wives and kids' mothers and they deserve things that make them happy (and safe). Way to go.

Tom,
You know you're stuck with her forever now, right?
And I thought I was doing well, getting my significant other a remote starter in addition to a few other small things this year. I have to save for the big ring and house next spring or summer, but don't tell her that! With all the $$$ I'm going to dump in this truck she'll never see it coming.
Merry Christmas to you and your family Tom!

There ain't nothing wrong with taking care of us. When we got our truck this summer my hubby let me make the decision as to what we were getting. We had one dealer would not talk to me even after we said that it would be my truck so we left that lot. then needed us the come back and sign something and hubby told him would have see what he could do cause he didn't have a vehicle. Guy was a little confused and was like didn't you just buy a truck from us. Hubby was like "I bought my wife a truck, not one for me."
