Muffler delete

I know this is subject to your own preferance and opinion but just how loud is the muffler delete on a 2006 dw quad cab Geno's say's if I remember right 5 to 8 db louder than stock. Is there a drone while loaded or unloaded? Don't like the drone. Thanks

thats how i have mine you arent really able to tell a difference at idle maybe a slight difference, but when you poor the coals to it its a different story. as far as drone i pull quite a bit and and i dont ever get any drone. I have heard the only way you get drone is if you loose the cat.

if you are leaving the kitty it wont be that bad. if you take it off it will be load inside especially towing.

Just took mine off this past weekend, and i took some dB measurements prior with a radioshack sound meter. Idle is almost exactly the same, no drone but some vibration in the cab( i had change in my center console before and after and now you can here it shake, poor test but effective), under load it is kinda loud but sounds nice once the engine warms up. I like it, but i posted earlier that I might be looking for a straight through muffler to please the neighbors.

I ran the delete in mine for about a year. I loved the sound of it. I recently replaced the exhaust with an MBRP set up. I couldn't stand the drone at highway speed. Especially under load, it was tough to carry on a conversation inside the truck. It's too bad. I really did like to sound otherwise. That being said, I am very happy having a muffler back on there. Maybe I'm getting old........

I have said it a bunch of times, but my favorite exhaust sound is with no kitty and a straight through muffler. I'm not gonna lie, there is some drone when the motor is laoded, but it's not too bad. Gotta be careful removing the kitty though, some states are really picky about it especially if you have inspections every year..... {I am assuming your truck is for "off-road" use only. }

I have a Mega, so also have the resonator, left in the CAT, no drone. It IS a little louder, few db, but not too bad. Towing when you get on it is a little more. Try it with a straight pipe, minimal investment, and if you don't like it go to a muffler or get a resonator. Many here have installed an aftermarket exhaust system so resonators are lying around. The resonator is part of the tailpipe, just clamps up to the back side of the ME pipe. Someone will probably have one you can buy.

Not trying to highjack a tread or anything here but if I removed the muffler on my 03 would it hurt or help with HP and MPG?

Of course it's just used for off road(cough cough)
