How much Pressure in the trans cooler return line?

Thinking about doing the following to my transmission: Drop pan, change filter, install pan, add Fluid, take cooler return line off and clamp a hose on the end of the line. Then crank it up run it untill about a gallon runs out shut the motor off and add same amount of new fluid as the amount of old ran out in a bucket. Keep doing this untill the new fluid starts coming out or i have poured in the total amount of fluid that the trans holds.
Is there a lot of pressure on this line? Don't want it to splash all over the place.
What do ya think about this?

Thanks

Does anyone know if it is enough pressure to tie the hose down?

Probably less than 20 psi. You should be fine - I've done it like that before as well. I would try to flush the coolers out too. Just have to make sure to get the return line from cooler, not feed line. Front line on the side of the tranny is feed to the coolers, return is the rear line.
