Melted Pistons

Hello

I am just posting this to try and confirm something that I have heard recently. I have been told that the 03-07 Dodges are having problems with melting pistons when chips and performance injectors are added.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks

Haha i think the 'problem' comes from guys who get the chips put it on the extreme setting and then stay on the go pedal for to long and repeatedly which in some cases will overfuel and raise egt's throug the roof and then melt pistons

I agree. Any model year Cummins will melt pistons with the right abuse!

It's folks with highly modified trucks, Twins, dual CP3's, big sticks, stacked programmer/pressure box and the list goes on. It's not everyone though. Just a few folks who have made oops's. One bad injector at this level and running it very hard may cause damage. Sled pulling, etc.

If your asking if it is a common problem on a stock truck, I don't think so. Like they said above, when you start modding heavy, then it can become an issue.
