Manual shut off

I replaced several o-rings on My IP while I was doing the 366 gobernor spring. One of them was the one on the manual shut off that was already leaking, now it is leaking again, is there a special way to put the o-ring or use some kind of lube before installation. I used some diesel fuel as lube.

Btw I use lucas fuel additive every tank and some 2 stroke engine oil as well so I don't think it is lack of lubricity.

Thank You.

You can try vaseline next time. Look at the shaft closely to be sure there's not a burr tearing up the o-ring.

Well the shaft looks just fine, I replaced the o-ring yesterday and put some Vaseline to lubricate today it leaks even more I don't get this. Is there a different o-ring for this? I replaced the one in the IP with another one from the kit I got from Bosch it looks the same, is it possible the PO replaced this o-ring with what ever He had to slow down the drip? Anyone have a pic of this o-ring in case I'm using the wrong one.

Thank You.

That's a puzzler. The only thing I can think of is that the bore in the housing is worn and needs to be bushed.

Look very closely at the o ring there are several that are very close but are just a little smaller on the OD which makes the o-ring thicker and puts more pressure for it to seal up against the case. Also make sure you have the washer behind the lever that holds the o-ring tight.

I found 2 rings on My kit that where big enough to seal the manual shut off but neither one of them do the job and it sure looks simple enough to seal this thing. I guess I'll find a way to make it work right bc this leak is annoying Me after all the work sealing everything else.

Thank You.
