Little Diesel Generator
Hey guys, I have a small diesel generator that I've been trying to fix. The gas tank had a rubber seal that is destroyed (old age). The new seals is about $110 and I never really like the design of it anyways. So I came up with a solution but it has failed and now I'm looking for any ideas anyone has. Here is what I did;

You said you used pipe fittings from the hardware store.. Was it a bulkhead fitting like the one in this thread?

The link in post 5 for glacier diesel shows a better fitting, you might try them and see if they will sell you the fitting only or do a Google on bulkhead fitting. Just make sure you get a diesel compatible gasket.

if it is a steel tank, then just get a weld in bulkhead fitting, or a weld in bung, and knock yourself out with all the options for feed lines from that.
