Leaking fuel screw

I helped my buddy out with his new ride. It's a 91 reg cab 2wd daully automatic with 3.07s I turned the fuel pin and cranked down the star wheel. Then I took out the fuel screw busted off the collar and put it back in. Turned it bout 2 turns and it's leaking from the screw.

What's wrong? How do I fix it?

Guess the only thing I can think of Is that the threads got lightly damaged and fuel is seeping past them or did the brass washer seal that tightens up with the jamb-nut get forgotten? I have done many and never had this problem? Is it a slow leak or steady? Does the truck run like it should?

It runs wonderful and quick! It's faster than my 92. I might slip on another brass washer to see it it stops and it's kinda steady

The washer on there isn't a sealing washer.

There is an O ring halfway down the screw, Replace it and you'll be good to go.

Probably neither. Just go to your local pump shop.

I've got some extra "O" rings for the fuel screw - no charge. If you would like a couple PM me with your address and I will mail them to you.

Jim I just read your procedure for replacing the o-ring and you mentioned take care rolling the o-ring onto the threads.I was thinking you are going to cleant the screw of any trash on it and after you do that could you put some duct tape around the threads slide the ring on, seat it and remove tape. Just a thought. It is still early in the morning so my brain functions better but declines as the day goes on! lolol

That would work, so would a larger soda straw like the ones you get with a thick malt.
