Injector swap questions???
I am swapping injectors with a friend and have a couple of questions....
1. We are swapping injectors completely, he has 90hp DDP's and I have stock. Do his connector tubes need to go into my truck to mate up with the injectors??? Or can I use my connector tubes with his injectors and he use his tubes for my injectors???
2. We are re-using the copper washer for both sets that they came with, is there any problem with this???
3. Are there any pointer or tips anyone can throw out there to make it go as smooth as possible???

ddp website has about the best instructions I have seen. I think if the tubes have not been overtorqued that either set will work. replace the washers if available if not mic them to make sure they are in spec
He has done them before (when he did the nozzles) so he has a good grasp of it. I have read the DDP directions until my eyes have began to bleed, so I can hopefully help and not hinder the process. We were just concerned about the tubes....I thought that I heard that tubes and injectors need to go together but then I ask people and they say no....guess we will see!!!
i would swap the connector tubes with the injectors to keep them together there is always a chance of a small differance in stuff so i would be safe and keep thetubes together and please replace the washers and orings on the injectors and it wouldnt hurt to change them on the connector tubes if you want i can get you all the parts numbers for the orings and washers for i work for a cummins dealer. you do now want fuel getting out around that injector becuase that can destroy your engine. it will wash the cylinder walls down and score them.
I wouldn't reuse the copper shims. When you torque down the injector, they get flattened out to where they aren't the correct thickness anymore. They're suppose to be 1.5mm. Yeah, you could probably get away with it and reusing the tubes but, why risk it for $2 worth of washers. The tubes are about $120
You need to reinstall everything the same way it came out.... lines, tubes, injectors, rockers...etc. in both trucks
Cummins highly recommends replacing the tubes and shims with every injector change.

copper shims - 3937142
intake gasket - 3969988 ( nice to replace when the intake is out of the way for injector change )

are the part # for the copper shims the same for the 2nd gen. im sure they are, just double checking.
