They are both rated at 160 HP, but most stock non-IC trucks will run rings around most stock intercooled trucks.

is that because of the size of the injectors?

Yup. They also tend to spool faster due to the lack of IC plumbing.

Im sure the 18cm compared to the 21cm turbine housing would have something to do with that too... More air to pack plus huge turbine housing = .

Ive got a 91 non I/C and a 92 with I/C and Banks 14 cm and that little 91 WILL run circles around the cooled truck. The 91 is untouched and the 92 I am constantly working on to get it to where the 91 is. The 91 spools up fast.

My "stock" non-intercooled truck ('89) rated at 160 flywheel hp made 170rwhp when I bought it with 200K on it. The last "stock" 93 I saw tested made about 130rwhp. Ouch. non i/c trucks have about 20% larger injectors.

We took a non/ic ve pump( stock )and put it on a 92 and it runs way differant the 92 pump was tweeked. the new pump rips off the line and builds boost way faster . I dont know what is differant in the pumps or the setting of them but there is defenitly something going on + tweeking the new pump is real sensitive and EGTs go way up faster now.

the new pump came off off an after cooled 12v engine used on a pump that the farm labors unhoocked the safety shut down system. and then ran the cummins out of oil.while it was running 24/7
