History Lesson. Please ??????
What year did Dodge/Cummins stop offering the non-intercooled trucks? Was the intercooler a popular option or was it to pricey? Did they always offer the I.C.? What would have made original owners not opt for the I.C.?
It wasn't an option, all trucks built after mid-year 91 were intercooled, also had 7mm injectors, and that was when the a518 automatic overdrive transmission was introduced and 3.07 gears went away. Alot of that was done for fuel mileage as well as to make the truck pull better, with the 3.07's and automatic taking off was a chore and top speed was in the 65-75 mph range.

The intercooler was swapped in, could have used a factory intercooler, associated plumbing, and radiator. Or something like the Banks technicooler that was offered for these trucks. Hard to tell without actually seing the engine and tubing. We also forgot to mention the IIRC 7.71 gears with an auto in the aircraft tug 89-90's.
no, the 9mm inj will physically not fit in the 91.5 and newer 7mm head. you can fit 7mm into the older head with some fancy adapters. don't try to stuff them inthere without them....ask me how i know...
. Now with the Getrag/3.07 combo (
) Ive had it past 100 to where it took a good 4-5 seconds to come back down.
