Subject: A little history lesson to bring you a smile....





Many stories have come to us from the tragic sinking of the
great ship, the Titanic. Some are not as well known as others.

Most people don't know that back in 1912, Hellmann's mayonnaise
was manufactured in England. In fact, the Titanic was carrying
12,000 jars of the condiment scheduled for delivery in Vera
Cruz, Mexico, which was to be the next port of call for the
great ship after its stop in New York. To date this would have
been the largest shipment ever exported to Mexico.

The people of Mexico, who were crazy about the stuff, were
eagerly awaiting delivery and were disconsolate at the loss.
So much so, that they declared a National Day of mourning which
they still observe today.

It day is known, of course, as Sinko de Mayo.

Since it's Hellman's east of the Mississippi, and Best Foods here out west,
would they have had to change the labels on them, if they had survived?

My father in law has told me that one at least 5 times. I keep pretending that is the first time I have heard it because he gets a kick out of telling it. He likes to tell it to the Mexicans as well that work at the same Casino.
