Head bump

Has anyone ground this bump out when they ported their head?



Im curious to know the difference in how it ran afterwards

i dont think anyone has but i was thinking about it, you'd have to plug the bolt hole above it

Im not worried about the hole. I think the lifting eye goes there anyways. I'll know more when I put my motor back in the truck.


So far I have about 3 hours plus grinding the **** bump out. It really sucks !!! Should see my PILE of shavings.... its nuts


Other then that I should be able to surface the head and do a valve job/ put it back together.

Im not gonna worry about polishing the intake - dont think I'll gain anything there. I would gain more by cutting the head for bigger valves at this point and cutting the intake off and porting the runners. I did widen the runner at the begining on the intake where the pushrod tube is tho.



My next plan is to buy a '93 head and mill the intake off and go full tilt on it.

Have a peek at the no1 cylinder exhaust valve in my top image. Ran a bit hot.
