I was just wondering what I should be getting mile wise per gallon in my 01 quad cab. Everything's stock except for trailer brake.

 

i have oversize tires & 3.55s & get 17-18 city, 20-22 on hwy...

Mine doesn't burn gas, but I'm getting 18 mostly highway with bigger tires and a chip. Do you have the manual trans? 245 or 265 stock tires? Stock tires and auto trans should have you at 18-22 depending on how heavy your foot is and your top cruise speed....

 

I get a little over 18 combined highway/city unloaded. About 11 to 12 pulling high profile 11.7K lb 5th wheel. All stock truck.

 

a consistant 11.5 to 12. however i use mine like a truck everyday. She hauls 3 tons daily.

for a commuter vehicle it will depend greatly on your rear end gears. 4.10s you'll see ~16. 3.55's you'll see ~18

 

There are too many variables to actually answer this question accurately. There are several factors which play into mileage include wind resistance, rolling resistance, the efficiency of your engine, and the terrain you drive just for starters.

Wind resistance is the big one. Any lift, bigger tires, ladder racks or anything like that and you will really suffer. Also, driving fast really kills your mileage since wind resistance is proportional to the square of your relative velocity.

Rolling resistance should be pretty constant unless you are running big tires or have something wrong like brake drag.

The efficiency of your engine can depend on mods that you may have done to it but it also depends greatly on the environmental conditions. Winter blend fuel has a lot less energy density and even the same blend can have variation. Humidity and temperature have both an effect on your engine and your wind resistance. The list goes on but those are the big factors for a stock engine.

The roads you drive is also important. Smooth road takes less energy and hills are bad. Traffic is really bad.

This gives you an idea of the number of factors at play. If you drive your truck correctly and don't have a lift or anything, you should be able to hit 22 mpg pretty easily at 65mph with the right road and environmental conditions.

 

My 99 Quad Cab 24 Valve Auto 4x4 3500 Gets up to 26 on the highway and around 15 in the city. It also gets around 12-13 heavy.

 

Aaaannnnnnnd, what exactly have you done to your truck to achieve this type of highway mileage?
I ask because with the truck in my signature, I only get about 20-21 when I'm nice to it. 13-14 in town, and the same when towing.

 

An old trucker buddy told me never pull up to the pump and say gas it up and to never use your tire buddy on your front tires( You can see if they are flat or not)

I seem to get 18 mph hwy and 14 around town.
