Fuel Pressure Gauge?

How necassary (if necassary) is one on a 12v? I know that the lift pump is a lot better than one on a 24v, but at what HP/Torque would a gauge be recomended for a 12v? If I buy one would 0-35PSI be sufficient? My goal for HP is around the 500-550 mark at the wheels ... If anyone has any input it'd be appreciated!

Hey Chris , Yes , fuel pressure gauges are very useful on 12v trucks, lift pumps do fail (although not very often) it can also help diagnose lowered fuel pressure due to a plugged fuel filter , or pre-filter screen , as well as overflow valve problems.

The 35 lb gauge will work , sort of, here are the specs:

Normal fuel transfer/lift pump pressure specifications are 17 - 22 psi at idle and of 25 - 36 psi at 2500 rpm (no load).

You can shim the overflow valve for a little more pressure, but then you will need a gauge that reads higher, too much pressure will blow seals.

I plan on running a 60 lb fuel press. gauge , when money allows me to do so.

A 60 psi gauge is best, then normal readings will be straight up.
Pretty common to touch 40 psi when going downhill, not good to zap a 35 psi gauge.

I have one in the truck..

Not really nessesary, but its nice to have, and it serves as an indicator when u have a plugged fuel filter.... Id go 0-60 on one,
