What exactly is the DEATH WOBBLE?

whatexactly is the death wobble and what do u look for specifically? I noticed lately my steering wheel shimmys, wobbles at 95 km hour SOMETIMES. also steering wheel is weird lately. kinda wanders all over road in town. 9 months ago I had wheel allignment and all 4 ball joints replaced with moog greasable ones. Is it the steering gear or stabilizer shock under the front? what is that cylinder under the front?

It looked like the front end was just going to fall off those death-wobbling trucks!

i believe my truck is a 2004 dodge not a 90s chevy. What exactly happens on our trucks? what parts need to be replaced? some list about $7500 in parts i would think maybe just a wheel allignment.

Usually worn front end or steering parts. . They may not seem worn out, but bigger tires amplify the situation. My 95 used to do it bad, but I found it was a slightly loose track bar bracket causing my problem.

Death wobble USUALLY happens between 35 and 55mph and if you have it, you'll know it. It's not just a little shakin. It's enough to make your passengers think about jumpin outta the truck.

That cylinder IS the stabilizer.

P.S. no need to get attitude, the videos above answered your question to your first question. D.W can happen to any brand.

mine would yank the wheel almost out of you hand if you hit a pot hle or a bump over 65 mph. new upper ball joints and tie rodends fixed it

Your truck probably has it Sallyman. It has had every other problem known to ever affect a pickup in history.

Sometimes it is very complex issues with the front-end, sometimes the fix is as simple as a caster adjustment.

It doesn't matter what your truck is. It is called death wobble because when it happens you are convinced that you are about to die.

Have a look at this one:

no no. im not experiencing it betwen 35-65 mph. my truck runs FLAWLESS now.(ever since i unplugged quad fuel rail adapter). if i accelerate on highway around 95 km/hour i start noticing it and it goes away at 100 km/hour. All i notice in town is steering wheel wonders all over road kinda. if i correct it by giving it a slight nudge then im too far the other way. then if i correct it a small amount then its too far the other way follow me? and it started doing this about 2 months ago.

Talking

You definately DON`T have it...

You will definately know when you DO though

There is no one answer as to what causes it , or what will fix it for good.

Some folks have had it happen to a stock truck , others have it happen when they run a level kit and 35 BFGs, some say it`s the track bar , some say ball joints, some say get the steering brace , others say get the new Thurn (sp) replacement , etc....etc...etc...

The first person to have the end-all-fix-all for ALL trucks should be a rich person though

Since they were the wrong kind of trucks to apply, click on the following links:

Link 1

Same video but in slow motion

I think the second one gives the best idea.

If it wonders all over the road, you may have a bad track bar in the front end.Look under the frt. end and have somebody turn the steering wheel back and forth and see if the track bar is moving.
