I would think really long before doing that swap. I had the E4OD in my Bronco and it was slipping really bad with the little 302. I had it rebuild and a better converter put in and VB but it still didn't work great. What year is the tranny? Reason I ask is the early 94-96 weren't as strong as the 97 up, don't remember when they quit making the E4OD 98,99??

well i can say this... i have a 90 bronco with a e40d. it has a 351 with a comp cam, port and polished heads, edelbrock intake manifold, and so on. i had the tranny rebuild when i bought it...it didnt have reverse. i put that transmission through heck, i dog the old truck through mud and on the highway. i hadnt had a problem out of it yet. i had about 30K miles since rebuild. also my brother has a 96 ford powerjoke with the e40d yeah its the one in my signature and he had it rebuild when he bought it from me @200,000. he had a towing tc and a vb on it and he loves it. he does overload the truck alot, and of course he like to watch the smoke come out of it but to do that with his truck it has to be all the way to the floor to do that. so yeah he abuses that truck too and hadnt had any problems out of the tranny. and yeah the transmissions are the same but upgraded.

I second Brians Truck Shop. I am running one of his tranmissions right now. E4OD and the 4R100 is essentially the same transmission except the 4R100 has a few more speed sensors. You will need a transmission controller like the PCS (Powertrain Control Solutions).

What are you going to do with the truck? Are you pulling a trailer or just a daily driver. I would try to get a Dodge set up and build it you would be money ahead most likely it is around 800 for the adaptor plate and 150 for the starter plus upgrades to the trans.Have you statred the swap yet ?I just did mine and can send you what I did for wiring and other things, Heres a link to my pics
