dropping fuel tank/help
this tues.(27th) im goin to drop my tank its empty so good time. need to fix sending unit and clean or replace filter. anything eles i should do while its down? i heard somthing about draw straw what is it and why replace?..any thoughts would be helpfull thanks..

I found it 100% easier to take off the bed. 6 bolts and disconnect the rear lights and 3 screws for the filler neck. I can have my bed off in 20 min max. Also you are not fighting the fuel lines. Just a thought.

Replace the suction tube, and all the fuel hoses.
I would also expect to find "mud" in the bottom of a tank that old if it has been used on anything other than pavement. So, it may be a good idea to flip it upside down and pressure wash the inside if you see any sediment.

Earlier tank modules had metal supply and return lines that could rust away and leak.
That's when you need a Drawstraw.
I think by '98 Dodge realized their mistake and the lines are plastic.

thanks for info guys... i think tank is dry been on empty all day..removal of bed is not option for me cuz i have stacks..also "mud" inside tank? or on top. my truck has been off road but not like that..metal supply lines, get drawstraw or replace metal lines? when you say leak, inside tank or outside? because i dont have any signs of fuel under bed. but i will check. i will get pic of project and post thanks.
