Dropping the Fuel Tank

I need to drop my fuel tank to install my ladder bars. What's the easiest way to do this? I'm gonna run the tank down as far as I dare go to make it as light as possible. I figure a couple of jacks and buddies and we should be able to man handle it out. What's holding it on besides the two straps on it? Are there any electrical connections I need to worry about while dropping it? How about redoing the pickup in the tank? Any simple fixes for that while I've got it down there? Thanks for the help yall.

I find it easier to lift the bed than drop the tank but that may not be an option in your case.
You will have to disconnect all the wiring, the hoses on top of the tank and the fill and vent tubes. The wiring connector is a bugger. Just two bolts on the straps hold the tank up.
Rather than trying to balance it on two jacks consider using two nylon webbing racheting load tie down straps to raise and lower the tank.

you can also put a chunk of plywood under the tank and use a floor jack (this might not work for you Blue since the truck is lifted).

infidel, the tank has to come out. We have to drill 4 holes in the frame and two of them are on the side of the frame and I don't want to risk puncturing my fuel tank.

How about sliding a thin piece of sheet metal/steel between the tank and the frame? Is there enough room? Just a thought.

There's enough room for the metal but not enough to slip a bolt in. I need enough room for me to get my hand back there with a wrench. Maybe I can just loosen the straps enough to get my hand back there. All I need is an inch or two.
