dropping fuel tank/help
this tues.(27th) im goin to drop my tank its empty so good time. need to fix sending unit and clean or replace filter. anything eles i should do while its down? i heard somthing about draw straw what is it and why replace?..any thoughts would be helpfull thanks..
I found it 100% easier to take off the bed. 6 bolts and disconnect the rear lights and 3 screws for the filler neck. I can have my bed off in 20 min max. Also you are not fighting the fuel lines. Just a thought.
Replace the suction tube, and all the fuel hoses.
I would also expect to find "mud" in the bottom of a tank that old if it has been used on anything other than pavement. So, it may be a good idea to flip it upside down and pressure wash the inside if you see any sediment.
