Downspout Air Dam

On this page, there is are some pictures and a description of a SRT air "pass" to the stock box. My '06 (not SRT) seems to have most of the same parts, like the plasic grille piece that directs air through the fender and such, but it does not have that little plastic section into the box. I searched auction sites for the part, to no avail. It has irritated me, knowing that the stock box never seems to quite line up with the hole in the fender - DC even saw fit to put some foam around the cutout to "fix" the design flaw.

Well, my "fix" cost me less than $4 and I have pics and instructions, in case someone else finds the information useful...

4" x 4.25" x 3" downspout

Cut slits in about 40% of the round end - the remaining portion will act as an air dam. I used a pair of tin snips.

Continue cutting, bending and tearing until the area is fairly clean.

Ready to install. Slide the rounded end into the air box, toward the fender, with the dam facing down. Rotate it up 90 degrees and pop the lip of the rounded part through the air box toward the fender. This may take a few tries, but once you get it, the unit should be firmly in place.

All done - air hits the cowl at the front grille, flows through the fender, hits the dam and goes into the box. No holes, no hoses, no additional risk of water...easy removal when the lease is over. I have noticed slightly better throttle response, especially at higher RPMs.

The process took less than 10 minutes, and I did it in a white shirt (that is still white )
