I would like to know if the people that were experiencing the DW before the steering upgrade (52122362AE) have exprienced it since the upgrade. Thanks

Seems to be lots of this cures it or this cures it but nobody can answer one way or the other on DW and steering upgrade.

 

I had DW before I installed the kit(and pitnam arm and steering stablizer) and I have not had DW since. I'm not saying the kit cured it, I'm just saying it hasn't happened since I put the kit in.

Thanks that is what I am looking for, I have not experienced it but in the event I do I and many others would like to know what works.

 

It seems like there are about 1000 different causes for DW and just as many cures. I don't think anyone would say "I know for certain what the cure for DW is", because there are so many variables involved. What cures your problem may not cure mine. I think it's a crap shoot and you just have to check your vehicle and make changes that are appropriate to your vehicle only. As you read more about DW you will find a few common things to check but as I said, your cure may be different than mine--IMO.

I had the DW happen to me on my stock tires but once i switched to 33's i have not had a problem since. I dont know what the deal is lol

 

I haven't had it since. But I also replaced all the ball joints, put on a drop pitman, Thuren track bar and Defiant steering brace.

The cure for DW is to keep the front end in good repair. Even if it means replacing ball joints every 25k miles.

I have not had the DW since the TSB upgrade either. They replaced the ball joints, tie rod ends, track bar, replaced the older style steering linkage with the much "beefier" Sterling 4500 4X4 Steering Linkage and the Sterling 4500
4X4 Steering Damper. I already had the DSS Steering Brace on the truck since new.

But I agree with what DTR Member Pull Ya said, there are ALOT of causes to this Death Wobble and as Ace said above, "you have to keep the front end in good repair."

I have had it happen and I also did ball joints and track bar bushings. I think I know what the cause is tho. I put the factory wheels with 315 BFG A/T's back on for winter and it started happening. I could not drive over 70 without it happening. The only thing left on the front end that I have not done is a sector shaft stabilizer, but the gearbox leaks so it needs to be replaced anyway. I will not buy any more BFGs after this experience. My Pro Comps haven't balanced well but at least they killed DW.

 

I think the steernig brace is a must have. It's barely adequate stock. Big tires are hard on it and DW beats it to death quickly.

Ace, I think you are exactly right on the steering braces and the bigger tires.
That is why I have not gone to bigger tires on my 2006.
