Dash lights not working???

So I got my pillar gauges mounted and wired and I seem to have lost my dash lights. I don't have power to fuse #14 which I think is my fuse for the dash lights. I used an inline connector to wire pillar gauges into the headlight wire (Light green)and they are working fine. Any thoughts would be wonderful
Thanks

Not to be insulting, but have you tried turning the dash lights all the way up? If it's not operator error it's the headlight switch.

14 should have variable voltage when the dash lights are on. Disconnecting the ground would not cause you to lose power at the fuse.

The wiring for the instrument lights is a separate circuit from the headlights and is on a separate fuse. The HL switch on these trucks is notorious for going bad and also the plug will get hot and sometimes melt and cause problems.

I solved my problems with 2 toggle switches. one for the headlights and the other for the rest.

I have a diagram if you need it. PM me and I'll post it.

Thanks Edwin and Wanna,
I'm going to work at it a little bit longer to see if I can figure it out. And if my usual troubleshooting skills prevail, I'll be sending you that PM within the week there Edwin.

I Hate electrical stuff! Because it's always something stupid that I miss. So for info purposes only, if your dash lights and parking lights don't work and you don't have a blown Fuse # 14 (dashlight fuse), then check Fuse # 4 (horn relay) before buying a new switch. Because apparently that fuse is on the same circuit but is before the dash light fuse. If I could read a schematic I would have seen it but I can't so I didn't.

Have a good weekend

The best way is to have the image posted on a web server and then in your post click the yellow button that looks like 2 mountains with a sun (moon?) and enter the URL of the image.

For example the URL of one of the images is http://www.freeholdconsulting.com/dt...headlight1.gif

Otherwise you have to submit the image to DTR and wait for an admin to review it before it will show up.

Regards

Edwin
