Considered a new 07 for a couple of minutes...

But when I realize the price difference I decided that was as long as it needed to be considered.

I looked at www.edmunds.com to price an 07 Laramie Megacab 3500 with not every option, but quite a few, and it came to about $45K invoice.

My truck in my sig is worth probably around $24K to $25K private party sale, so that leaves about a $20K difference.

I realize that I'm not comparing apples to apples - I'm pricing a Megacab Laramie 3500 to a Quadcab SLT 2500, but still... $20K? I could buy a camper or a Honda Accord 4 cyl. EX for that...

$20K for leather, extra leaf springs, an auto transmission, a sunroof, and more back seat room?

Looks like I'm keeping mine until the wheels fall off... Or at least until the 6.7 with the 68RFE is out for a while and is a proven drivetrain, and you guys that buy 'em are happy with 'em... And I get that new truck fever again. What a terrible disease. :-)

You can get that truck much cheaper. The SLT Megas are going for $34k here right now. My dad just bought a QC 3500 SRW Laramie with the H package and the Jacobs installed and with Big Horn wheels instead of the plastic chrome Laramie one's for $37k and it stickered for $45k.

Wow - that is a big drop... The one I priced was an 07, so that probably didn't help, but it invoiced at 45K. I think the retail was around 49K if my memory is correct...

Yep I was actually going to buy a used 04-05 but the incentives were just to good my SLT Mega was only 32k and it had a bedliner and the front windows tinted along with all the other SLT goodies MSRP was $43,500. When the used ones I was looking at were in the high 20's I decided to get a new one and a Mega which is what I really wanted anyway. Great buy to me!

Sheesh - I shouldn't have started this thread. Now I'm thinking that they're cheaper, and maybe I should get one.

I need to make the little voices in my head stop talking to me.

Awww, listen to the little voices, I am. Gonna pull the trigger on an 'O7 3500 SLT QC 4x4 6sp 5.9 CTD either tomorrow or on Friday. I am getting it thru my leasing co. so the price is way less than retail, but still in that 35K range. That was the kicker. Getting the price I wanted. Just waiting on a few more prices for the add-ons and then I will do it.

I got my 07 Laramie for much less than the sticker price. Found a dealer on E-Bay. They also gave me a lot more for my trade in. I am very happy with my new 07....

Not exactly same situation but I talked my dealer down from 39K to about 27.8K on a 2006 1500 Megacab SLT. That was 3 months ago. Should be even better now on the left over 06's.
