Commander temp warning

Today after I backed up my drive and was idling the Commander flashed Temp 216. I checked the truck temp guage and it read normal at 200. When the truck cools I will check the coolant level and the fan.

I have had my commander for a year and this is the first time I have gotten a temp warning. Any recommendations???

Are you sure it wasn't the tranny temp. As you said you were backing up the drive it will cause an increase on the load on the converter and tranny and cause much heat.

Thanks Don

It was the water temp warning reading 216. I have the water temp warning set at 215 and trans warning temp at 230.

ok, just throwing out an idea....Glad you were sure of the water temp. I really don't think 216 is all that high, many gassers run over 220. Maybe the combination of backing and warm weather caused the short rise in temp. Just a guess.

I would recommend checking the connection of the harness at the sending unit wire tap. I had the same thing happen to me in the past. While driving, the commander would flash 215* and then go back to normal. It was driving me nuts. Finally I got fed up with it and decided to disconnect the commander harness from the wire tap @ the sending unit and then re-connect it. Since then, I've never had a problem. Apparently there was a bad connection.
