What can I do to fix this????
Well from the day I got this pos. II 64/65/14 I have been having this problem. This is my second turbo in a year after the first one blew up. When you get up north of about 30psi the truck seems like the wastgate is opening and closing very rapidly. When it does this my egts go to like 1300-1350. It sounds like its barking but does it every second until you get out of it. Another thing I noticed was today when I was checking the wastegate. With shop air hooked up to it the wastegate does not begin to open until about 45psi and is not fully open until 55psi. The last thing I noticed was the turbo was very stiff to spin when not running. It will spin but will not keep spinning on its own at all. Thanks for the help. I think I might go out and beat this thing with a sledge and put the stocker back on.

interesting my 62/14 at times will lightly flutter if I hit it hard above 35psi but I have to ease into the fuel and its fine. but my temps are below 1250 this is with smarty and TST on. my waste gate will open and close normal so it seems. never heard of a waste gate sounding like what your saying. have you called ind injection about it. let us know.

Sounds like the shaft bushings are kinda tight. You might take it to the local turbo shop and let them give the clearances a check...maybe let them check the balance too. Putting it off can do permanant damage to the turbine shaft.

I think I am going to call II and have them send out a new one. This thing only has about 3k on it. The last time the bearings came apart and destroyed the comp. wheel.

Surging is common on turbos with compressor and turbine wheels close in size, like your 64/65. 71mm turbine would help. It just spools up to a pressure that the turbine can no longer sustain, so air back flows out of the compressor, then it spools up again. Hard on thrust bearings and the shaft.
