Another transmission issue
First off I'm not an auto transmission type of person, as in I don't know a whole lot about them. Second I've searched about this for quite a while.
the issue:
The other day I was towing a trialer with my Jeep Chrokee to a trail ride. When accelorating it wouldn't shift paft 3rd with out lifting off the throttle and waiting. Never a shudder or searching for gears just wouldn't shift. Now once up to hgihwya speeds I would hit a hill and it would do just fine. But going up a hill on a curby road covered with ice I had to slow down. I then tried to speed back up and it would run up to 3000 rpm and jsut hang there. I would let off and it would shift but by that time I had slowed down enough for it to downshift again.
I wasn't thinking this is the shudder problem others are having cause it never really "searched" for a gear. It only happens when accelerating and now it happens between all gears. And now my wife called me from work and said it happened to her with it empty. This couldn't happen at a worse time as i just got rid of my other vehicle and now only have two stret legal vehicles and need both of them. And unfortunately we have the worst dealer in the world up here. Their service department is absolutely horrible. And being in AK it's way too expensive to buy a transmission and get it shipped up here.
You guys think it may need completely rebuilt? The fluid doesn't look bad but doesn't look the best either. I'v ethought about rebuilding it but don't really want to do that myself. I've rebuilt one in my life and it was a 46re and took me a while to get it right. The only guy up here that is trust worthy to work on transmissions takes a while cause he is so popular everyone uses him.
Oh yeah it's 2005 3500 quad cab 4x4. Stock, performance wise. witing on the wife to get to see if there are any codes.
Thanks for any help you guys can offer.

Well since warranty on this is passed the dealer wont be touching the transmission. I decided I'm going to replace the governor solenoid and do a garage trans flush. One question is should I also replace the transducer? I've been told they are separate items and if one fails usually the other isn't far behind. Also anyone reccomend a good one and a good source for these?
Thanks

Also look at www.transmissionpartsusa.com . I just bought mine from them and I'm waiting for it to come in on Monday. They were fast to ship. I couldn't find anyone around for less $$$. I paid $46 fo rthe Gov. Press and my local dealer wanted $95. Napa wanted $85. Go figure???
Good luck and I think you're on the right course.

Hey guys,
I'm thinking of doing this same fix on my tranny. I have the identical problem on my '05 as AKRAMMIT. Can anyone advise what the up graded soloniod is and possibly where to find a "how to???"
thanks,
