Re:98' 24 valve info..

i ran it in-line w/ the factory LP, i ran it about half-way between the fuel tank and the LP...Mine is a pump off a 6.5 liter GM diesel ( my dad runs a fleet and and has a bunch of 6.5's in his smaller school buses )...i have a switch hooked up in the cab so i can turn it off momentarily when i start it up so it doesnt send too much pressure to the VP on initial start-up...pressures have been strong, no leaks, no prob's ( my dad sez these little pumps work for a long time for him so...) also, if the pump fails, fuel will run past it fairly easy versus some other pumps...works for me for now...my next upgrade will be the "max-flow" kit from wildcat, i like the idea behind it..

Re:98' 24 valve info..

I agree with the last 2 posts......Ive have heard of lots of problems with the first few years of the 24V....I work with a guy that went through 5 lift pump, and injector pump and eventually dropped a ring.....he had big trouble with his 98.5

Can I buy your 12V - Ive been looking to get rid of my 24 for a while....juts cant find the 12'er that I want....

yeah cummnzpowr, i love my truck but if i did my homework before hand i may have looked harder at a late model 12 valver, i always worry about pushing my pump too hard..i wish someone would just make a bullet-proof VP-44.. :

Re:98' 24 valve info..

We,ve got two the wife truck gets the easy life. Mine on the other hand gets to work its tail off. A lot harder then probably any of these other guys do. its just like the one you described
i got it it with 147k on it from a guy who hauled cattle with it. its peirced and runs like a scared rabbit. the only things i have done is a lift pump and a clutch along with a rebuilt tranny due to prior maintence abuse their aint anything wrong with them. Any other questions give me a holler i'm just up the road from ya

Re:98' 24 valve info..

I haven't BOBM'd mine the way some of the others have, but mine is solid as a rock. Had to replace a lift pump and a starter, other than that no engine problems at all. Get some 275s and a box, and have a blast.

Re:98' 24 valve info..

I've had good luck with mine.
Lift pump went bad (caught it fast enough)
Tranny went bad due to wrong fluid and overfill from the previous owner.
Now has 201000kms and has been bombed for the most of them.
The rest were either peanuts or caused by hitting or get hit by hard objects and rodents eating insulation. >
