OK guys, I'm probably not going to be here for the summer, and I'm betting a lot of people aren't going to be either.
Feel free to use this thread to get gatherings together.

I would like to but have a fishing trip scheduled that weekend. I will make the next one after....can't remember the date. I got the "lost in the mail" ignition module in yesterday that prevented me from pulling last weekend[verymad]

Hmmm, I'm torn, I'd like to go to the pull since Sweetwater is only about an hour and a half from me, but my best friend is going to the Hooters Car Show in Odessa, so may have to go to Odessa. (And not just for him LOL)

You sell trucks at J7....Jason??

Thats me well kinda I really dont sell many vehicles, I am more of the accessories guy. But if needed I can sell one or two. You have the red truck that we always stare at when it goes by huh. I would like to see that. When you get a chance stop buy, shoot the breeze or whatever.

Yeah, I have the red GMC crew cab. I live out on 377 so I go by daily.
I am the guy that got REAL ****** when your boss sold an 86 cab and chassis fire truck that we had been working a deal for two weeks....needed harness, tires and a bed. That was my first idea for a 6B swap, but the GMC came along and I am glad I ended up with it.
I will stop some time.

I'm over it and I got a better truck in the end.
It was my first dealings there and I had heard nothing but bad things about J7. It just solidified my initial impression in the office when I had the displeasure of listening to Terry's arrogant rantings.
His wife tried to buy my truck up at the gym one day(she is as nice as can be) and left an open ended offer if I ever sold it. She already knew all about it so I knew someone up there was paying attention and had probably looked it over.
Someone even told me they heard I bought it from J7....which was news to me.

That would be some interesting news for you I bet!! Jessi is as nice a person you can meet. Terry is interesting individual but all in all he is a great person to deal with once you get him calmed down if you can!!! Since I started in early 06 I have been trying to get the image or reputation up of this place. I am a local guy so everyone knows me and if I do a bad job it gets around. I dont need that kinda problem on my shoulders. Any way glad you got a truck put together and sorry for you unpleasant dealings with J7. If you do ever need anything call and ask for me and I will do everything I can to help.

I am glad to hear you are working on the rep of the company. Honestly, I wish I had heard good things. I am a truck enthusiast and a puller(I have seen you hanging around pulls), and I know you guys have some connections. I actually have a truck for sale you guys might have some interest in. We are getting it back together now for sale, and it should be ready this week. It is an S-10, backhalved, 4link, 10pt cage, alum. interior, 410cid small chevy, turbocharged, EFI, TH350....and a ton of stuff I have forgotten. Basically it is a full blown drag truck, but does have a street exhaust and ET streets so it has been inspected in the past. It is a nice truck, but I am selling it to fund a pulling project. PM me if it is something you have interest in.

Mequade you'll have to give more info than that, I'll let you talk out what happened, but please keep this from sounding like a company bash thread. That kind of thread brings in hard feelings and moderators and we can't afford either.

Ouch....but, yeah same experience I had (Sorry, Jason, you seem like a nice enough guy, and I hope you can help down the road). Did anybody see the episode of TRUCKS! that they made it on? My brother in law from Minnesota called and told me about it, so I only know the second hand story, but it was not good press.
Completely unrelated to this thread as I did not even ask for the info, but I heard the same thing yesterday in O'Rielly's about a trade situation.
I will say it again....I wish I trusted them because being a truck enthusiast it would be nice to have the connections available that I know they have.

We ended up with the blazer after the dope head stripped it we did not do that to the blazer. And all apologies on the bad press or problems of mistrust with us, me or my boss. I am an employee here, it pays my bills and I try to do the best I can with what I am allowed to do. I am interested in what gets said about me, and the place I work. But there are other companies that cannot please everyone. I hope that I can make it right with the chosen few that feel that they got scre w e d with J7. Once again I apologize for the mishaps that have happened to each of you.

I plan on stopping by sometime if I get my other truck going.....having problems right now.
Anyhow, I think the best thing you can do is just be honest with people. That is always what I have heard of and experieced being a big problem. There are alot of us that can see through the BS and just want the truth when dealing with a business. Owning a business in town I can assure you I understand business reputation and the importance of it. People just dont like dishonesty and that is an easy thing to fix.

Nicely said. Its really easy to recognize bs, and honesty is key in good business. Jason I think your a great guy, but like you said limited to what you can do working under a guy like terry. Hope yall can get it figured out though, cause based on my experience, and the experiences I've heard from others, J7s reputation is just getting worse and headn downhill

I was really surprised to see that the one time I got in on putting a meeting together that, that many members showed up at J7. Because of all the bad mouthing that J7 gets alot of people showed up. Anyhow when is there going to be a meeting, or get together type deal. There is a Dr Performance sponsered event at Texas Motor Plex on June 21st and Deleon's next weekend so??? Just putting something out there.

Ever heard the saying "there is no bad advertisement"? There is something to that. A little bad press can get you the attention and then if you can turn a situation into an opportunity, then it can be good. Just look at what we are talking about on the PM side.....
I would like to go to deleon, but it is my anniversary weekend so me and the wife have plans......and she doesn't like pulling as much as me :D. I want to test hook my tractor, but I will be waiting untill next weekend. I am hoping all the changes we made fix it.

I doubt it. I will probably just do the close pulls this summer. We are building a house right now and it is keeping me busy. I am building a new shop myself and have about 1/2 mile of fence to get done so weekends are pretty tapped. I am going to try to test it out in Stephenville on Friday night next weekend. I still have to get a fuel pump back on, but that should not be an issue.

I have a little bit of unfortunate news to tell. Last week I was on my way back up to Stephenville from Fredericksburg on Highway 16, and I had almost made it to Llano when my left rear tire decided to throw the rubber while cruising at 70 mph. Luckily, there was not any traffic and the tire did not actually blow out, and I was able to safely get my truck off the road just riding on the bare body casing of the tire. The damage wasn't too bad, but it did manage to put a decent dent in the underside turn of the rear quarter panel (you can't really see it but it did mess up the paint). It also broke the bracket/brace that holds the body panel in front of the rear tire, and did some slight damage in front of the tire and messed up some of the paint there as well. It made me so mad when it happened that I couldn't even say a word, and there were some people with me and let's just say that they kept a safe distance [tapdshut]. So now I get to fix that bracket, and hopefully I can fix the dent behind the tire. Oh, and the tire was the original Michelin spare that had less than 1,000 miles on it, and the tire had no dry rotting or cracks at all. Therefore there is no reason that it should have thrown the tread :o. So be careful of the so called "good" tires that you buy because you might not get any warning. The End.

Not trying to be mean, but you were dealing with a 16 year old tire, michelin or not it was bound to blow. A tire of that age has only one place, in the scrap heap. It won't show any dry rot cracks because it has lived it's life underneath the truck out of the UV rays, but the rubber is still deteriorated from old age. Just my .02.

I love my smarty. I got the new one with revo and it is freakin awesome!! With it just on 3, it almost feels better than any chip or programmer I've ever had. Its nice smooth power, and my egts never break over the 12 hundred mark. It pulls freakin awesome, and surprisingly, its extremely fast for just being a 60 hp setting. I smoked an old mustang gt the other day, and the kid stopped to talk to me afterwards thinkin I had a ton of stuff done. Granted he couldn't drive, and missed like 2 gears, but still, it felt good.

You're telling me. Thanks for the compliment on the truck. That's actually the second set of scars on the truck. When my dad used to have my truck he had a person run underneath the driver's side of the truck with a small car.
cbtumedic,
I know that it was an old tire, and I can't say that that wasn't the cause for it failing. It would seem like the tire would at least show some signs of the tread separating like a bulge or bubble under the tread or cracks where the tread meets the sidewall. There's nothing I can do to change it so there is no sense in stressing about it. The neat thing about that tire is that the original four just like it that were on the truck lasted 85,000 miles. And then the two Michelin sets that followed got better than 80,000 miles as well. But that was back when they made tires that are worth the money unlike they do now. [duhhh]

It's got a lot more life here lately, they even added a Chicken Express. Between 400 companies working on rebuilding the refinery and the windmill crew there is a lot more money flowing into town. Mainly to the motels and RV lots.
