4" to 5" Exhaust.

So I have my stock 3" downpipe, then goes into 4" piping that exits in front of the duals right now. I priced out some 5" Exhaust tubing at work and for 4 feet, it will cost me like $30CDN. So I figured why the heck not. I'm thinking of having it exit the same spot as where my 4" exits right now, and I will keep my 3" downpipe for now. I'm just curious to hear the sound difference, and the possible EGT drop of like 50 degrees, lol. I figure misewell give it a try for $30 for the straight tubing and whatever for the 90 angled piece to bring it out the side. I'll clamp it all together so that I don't need to weld and can remove easily if need be. This will help me with my decision to go with 4" or 5" stacks down the road when I start adding performance jazz to my truck. And I figured it shouldn't hurt the ol goat too much. I will post up pictures and maybe a video once I get it together.

Unless you've got some serious mods, you won't see any difference between a complete 4" system and a 5" system. With a stock down pipe there is REALLY no way you'll see a difference. Upgrade that before you throw any money at any other mods.

Yea, I am going to be getting a 4" downpipe once I start putting money into it...performance wise that is. And for the amount it is going to cost me to try it out, I see no problem with it,lol. I'm pretty much doing it for the sound.

I am talking 5" with no muffler. I recently had stock downpipe to 4" exhaust. Now I have stock downpipe to 5" exhaust. I mostly put it on right now so that I could see what 5" sounds compared to 4". So then when I put stacks on, I will have a better idea of what each one sounds like.

For Hp and Mileage gains, I wouldn't expect much at all for horsepower. And for mileage, maybe a bit of increase. Don't expect it to be dramatic.

I have a 4" downpipe, 5" straight pipe, into a 6" tip on mine. It sounds really good. I have about $270 in my complete system including the tip...

Helped drop the EGTs a lot on it too.
