Rear Passenger Window Power Problem

Window will go down but not up. Pulled plug to motor, 12.65V in both directions so power is getting there. Pull regulator and motor assy, put direct power from battery to motor, it moves both directions. Hooked it back up to the wiring harness, goes down but not up. Im stumped. Do I need a new motor, new switch, new something? Any and all help is appreciated.

If it works in one direction but not the other, "generally" you can rule out the motor, because the path of power must be intact in order for it to run in one direction. Same for the wiring, the complete circuit must be there for it to work in the one direction, so it should work in both. That leaves the switches; one contact may fail in a switch and prevent power or ground from traveling in a certain direction. My money would be on a defective switch.

The likely reason you are seeing power and ground at the motor in both directions is that you are using a voltmeter with the connector unplugged and are not loading the circuit. If you were to backprobe the motor connector while it is still connected, you would probably only see power and ground in the one direction. The load of the motor would cause the high resistance in the circuit to show up.

Hope this makes sense.

I had a similar problem that I thought was a broken wire to the rear window. Passenger could lower the window, driver could not. Passenger could not raise the window but driver could.

I also had a problem with the lock out switch for all the windows and tried to repair the switch that might have a broken solder connection. I broke the switch trying to get it apart and had to replace it. The new switch corrected all the problems I was haveing.

I had a similar issue long time ago in my truck. Same as yours. I bought the switch controls for the drivers door as the individual switches are not replaceable on this year truck. Problem still existed. I pulled the boot that goes from truck to door on the rear door and found a broken wire. Repaired wire and has worked since without issue.
