School me on these stock turbo's

I have an '05 Cummins and still running the stock turbo. Now what is the wastegate set to open at?? I'm used to my '01 24v opening at 20 psi stock without the turnbuckle on it....but haven't really read up on these newer ones yet so I have NO clue.

The reason I ask, I'm running an Edge Juice w/ attitude and the highest boost number I've seen is 28 psi and I'm still smokin like a freight train on level 3. I would think that I should be seeing higher numbers, but like I said I don't know squat about these turbo's. Keep in mind I live right outside of Denver, CO so I'm sure the altitude hurts me a bit ( around 5,000 feet ).

I read somewhere that I should send my chip in and get it upgraded to the latest software version....seeing how I have version 1.1. But would that affect my boost numbers, or just get rid of the earlier flaws like the surging?

So if y'all could school me on this I'd be MUCHO happy!

stock W.G. is 30psi, i cant believe your not even seeing that. Check for boost leaks the factory tune fuels enough to hit 30+ then w.g. opens and bleeds back to 30, thats my 04.5 anyway.

I just went and checked....it was set at 32psi. I didn't even think to check that! Man I feel like a tard! We'll see how it does on the way home tonight, I set it to 45psi.

If that doesn't help I'll start checkin for boost leaks! I'll let you guys know how it does. Thanks fellas

Well that didn't work! Just took it out for a test run and all it would show was 30psi even on level 5. I guess it doesn't smoke as bad as I thought it did.....the smoke clears up but still the 30psi is weird.

I wonder if the edge isn't boost fooling like it's supposed to??? Any thoughts?

Is your boost gauge maehanical or digital? Even with the added fuel the w.g. will try to keep 30. Dont know if your box does boost fooling or not, do you know anyone with the quad B.Fooler if so borrow it for one test run up the road, if its not 40 or real close id say you have a boost leak. Good Luck

Right now all I'm running are the digital guages on the Attitude monitor. I thought about taking my Autometer boost gauge out of my '01 to see if maybe the Attitude boost gauge is not accurate but that's to much dang work.

The Edge is supposed to boost fool or at least to my knowledge it's supposed to. I don't really know anybody else that has a newer Dodge with toys I can pull off....they all have 12v's & 24V's.

Maybe I'll start looking for a Quad boost fooler.......see what happens with that?

I'm would lean toward a boost leak... Did you luck out like me & have a plastic end capped intercooler? I'm still trying to get mine to pop since it's under warranty.

Mine does the exact same thing, highest boost I have seen is 28lbs. I also have version 1.1, with max boost set to 38lbs.

I have checked for leaks, found none. My plastic intercooler is still intact as well.

The only other thing that I can think of is that you're not getting enough fuel. Do you have a fuel pressure gauge going to the CP3 & a rail pressure gauge?

Going to the CP3 you need to have atleat 3 psi the more the better at WOT. Rail pressure should be 21,000-27,000psi. Anything under that for the rail, you either have to much duration or a bad injector.

Well at least I'm not alone! I'm wondering if maybe we shouldn't send ours back to edge and have them update them....maybe that will help???

I also checked for boost leaks last night and everything seems to be good to go. Went through and checked all intercooler boots, snugged up all the clamps......I'm thinkin it's gotta be related to the Edge.

just out of curiousity how did you check for a leak? Soapy water mix or pressurized the whole system with a gauge to check leak down?

This might sounds stupid but I see that your in Colorado. Chances are you are at a high elevation.
I know in my supercharged car I make almost 2lbs less boost in Calgary compared to being closer to sea level.

I have a machinical guage, and the edge guage reading boost. The mechinical guage reads 40-42, but the highest that I've seen on the edge is 30-32. I think that edge reads the fooled psi. I can crank out 45 psi, and the edge will still read 30-32.
