How loud are 5" duals?

Looking at 5" dual exhaust. I just pulled the stack off because it was too loud while towing. I know they wont be as loud as my 8" stack, but still make some sound. My question is, how much sound? Anybody have them that can comment one way or the other? I tow a 34' fifth wheel. Muffler would be installed. Thanks.

Dude... why don't you just get the exhaust routed to your window? Roll it down and drive around with your face in it? hahhahaha

i think it depends on what muffler you decide to use. like a donaldson will be quieter then a MBRP. get my drift.

To be somewhat helpful...

What kind of exhaust do you WANT? I've seen a few dual exhaust setups, meaning a stack with a straight pipe and muffler on separate pipes, or a stack and a rear exit exhaust with a cut over... figure out what you want and make it work...

I called and talked to Diamond Eye and their advertised 5" dual system is not a true 5" system. It has 4" downpipe and tail pipes with a 5" intermediate pipe between them. Anyhow, just going with a true 5" single system. More than I need anyhow.

I just installed (yesterday) a Diamond Eye dual exhaust.

It's the 5" to dual 4" system. It starts with a downpipe that is 4" at the turbo (v-clamps as the stock system) and necks up to 5" a few inches from the turbo. The muffler is a straight through 5" and splits into two 4" before going over the axle. I doubt their would be room for dual 5" over the axle, maybe but it would be tight and frankly I doubt it would be a benefit.

The bends are nice and smooth and install was straight forward. You do need to weld or bolt a hanger to the passenger side rear frame (near the rear spring hanger).

I was worried about it being way too loud but I really like it (the wife likes it as well). It's quieter than I expected but I haven't towed with it yet. I replaced a 4" AREO turbine that dumped before the rear wheels; the drone was horrible even when not towing but crazy when towing.

So far I would highly recommend it

I agree, too many variables to give you an answer.

First off, dual 5" is WAY overkill as the single 4" is good for about 500hp.

Second, what are you using for mufflers? Stack a couple of 51" Donaldsons on there and it will be quiet as a church mouse, but put a Flowmaster or Magnaflow on and you'll pull your hair out because of the drone.

So how loud are 5" duals? As loud as you want them to be.

Well a true 5" dual system doesnt exist unless you make it. I couldnt find one anyhow. I went with 5" single, its more than I need.
