The advice here is to stick with stock pistons... no flycut and have them coated by swain. (Gold top)

Get a smaller cam than the Hamilton 188. That is more a upper rpm cam and will not help you tow especially in the high elevation where you are at.
A colt big stick is a better compromise. And fly cuts are not necessary with any of that. With stock compression and a smaller cam, you will spool faster and have less smoke down in the RPM range when towing.

If you are going to tow heavy and have larger injectors, get a good water injection kit. The Snow Tow-max kit is perfect for this.

Ok thankyou. Does anyone know on the early 06 cummins engines did they sleeve them from the factory I had a guy mention this to me and it got me thinking. I did look on my CPL and it didn't tell me if the cylinders were sleeved or not. Any ideas?? And for the cam I was looking around and Hamilton makes a "drop in" cam it's a 108/220 and it's suppose to help with the bottom end power. That's the one I'm going to use I believe.

I'm down with the Spooler on this one,,, stay conservative and keep it reliable,,, Why spend 2500+ for the trick rods and even more for the girdiling/flycut pistons etc???

You will really be jacked if you spend all that jing and break something else cause you cant keep your foot out of it...

You add beau coupe power to the motor,,, and keep you #12 hung off in it,,, Your mileage goes down the tubes with it anyway,,,

Look at it this way a tow vehicle with 500 real HP will pull whatever you hook it to with authority,,, I say aim for the 6-700 (650) hp range with out the ultra exotic parts and draining the pocketbook,,, and you will have all you need to tow heavy w/out sacrificing reliability,,, My truck pulls 16 K verywell 80 MPH is not a problem and its bone stock... Stock is good, and BTW if you really tow alot,,, take the tall tires off of it and put the some maybe 1 tiresize over stock,,, it will pull alot better and help your mileage too!!!

No sleeves

The 5.9 ISB engine does not have any sleeves. This is a good point as there is not a problem similar to the Powerstroke which requires SCA (Supplemental Coolant Additives). Tiny bubbles of air next to the liner cause liner erosion see link. http://http://www.arrowheadradiator....ng_systems.htm

"The 5.9 liters (360.0 cu in) ISB (Interact System B) ... is an all-iron engine with forged steel connecting rods, an assembled camshaft, and .... The engine is produced in Columbus, Indiana." From Wikipedia
