Help! No Fuel After Motor Rebuild
Help! No Fuel After Motor Rebuild
2004 Auto HO 70,000 miles. Turned crank, new rods, pistons and rings etc... Everything looks great, motors in. Plenty of fuel in tank, new filter. Can hear what I believe is the lift pump runs for apprx 30 to 40 secs before it shuts off. With filter cap off the canister fills in about 2 seconds. We can not however get fuel to the injectors. According to the manual you turn the key on let the pump run until it shuts off and then start the truck. We have tried that multiple times with no luck. Engine will easily start and run on starting fluid but will not take off on it's own when you quit feeding it starting fluid.
First off, DO NOT USE STARTING FLUID, It will damage the engine, if the grid heaters don't cause it to blow up on you. Sounds like maybe the injector pump (CP-3) isn't working properly as a starting point. Do not crack injector lines like on the older engines as yours can have pressures up to 25000# or so and it can be dangerous. My guess is that you first need to determine why you apparently are not getting fuel to the injectors then go from there. Sounds like the lift pump is working OK though as you can see it filling the fuel canister. Ask about where you can check for rail pressure and how you can determine if you are getting fuel from the cP-3 tot eh rail. Maybe you jsut haven't trieds it enough to bleed out all the air...????????
Wish I could give you some specific advice but at least the very important one is as above ....do not use starting fluid......
