Yes, I've shifted down and up. I'm really stumped. I'm thinking its a sensor. But don't know what sensor could cause somthing like this. Speed sensor, throttle position sensor is there a shift sensor I don't know jst guessing.
Have you any more ideas?
Any ideas about the ps leak at the adj screw?

This morning, I went to check to see if the gear box had leaked overnight. It had. So I checked the lock nut again, it was loose. I retightened the lock nut and left the Allen wrench in the screw. Then had my neighbor turn the wheel as I watched, the screw moved when the wheel was turned. I think the nut might be turning loose with the movement. Is the screw supposed to move? What does this mean ? Is somthing broken? Should I just get a new box and be done with it?

You need to install a second nut on top of the nut already there. Common problem for nut to loosen up even Chrysler is installing two nuts on the gear boxes now because of this. That should stop the adjuster from backing off on you. You may want to recheck your adjustment first then install second nut and tighten it down. Make sure steering gear box isn't binding when you go past center position.

Great idea, can't believe I didn't think of that.
But is it normal for the adjustment screw to move when the steering wheel turns. Or does the two nut stop that from happening.

Make sure you also check the area above and behind the power steering pump. I believe I remember something about a weep whole on something around the pump that shares PS fluid, will leak onto the power steering and is another problem all together. I want to say it is a boost pump or something. Just something to think about.

No it should not move once it is adjusted and tightened down properly with a second lock nut. If it does turn it will cause the sector gear adjustment to go way out of adjustment.

Back to gear leak. AIR there should be a aluminum washer under the jamb nut to effect seal. Remove jamb nut without moving screw.

No I don't smell the clutch burning. The only way I can explain it is-
I'm driving in town or a road where the speed limit is less than 55. I'm in either fourth or fifth gear for a pd of time. When I push the gas there is no response. So I down shift or just take it out of gear and rev the engine. When I put it back in gear it accelerates fine like there's nothing wrong.

Thanks, I haven't been able to do anything to it yet but tom in the am I'm gonna remove the nut chk for a washer and get two new nuts. With two nuts , do I still need nylock nuts. Prob a good idea right? Also is it important to have a aluminum washer or is copper alright?

Torquefan,
I was wondering if it coil be fuel but not sure how to check for it. That's why I was thinking a sensor could be failing ( throttle pos sensor). I think I'm gonna find someone around here to put it on a computer to see what comes up. I may find more problems than I want. Ugh
