Time to do some Trimming

315/75/16 Treadwrights on 16x8 American Racing AR-23's

2" Lift

Rub the plastic moldings badly, have to trim them

Drives and Rides better than it did with the old tires. Light noise at 40+ mph, at 70 just a slight hum. unbelievably quiet for a full mud tire

Well That's it.

I like your truck. Don't sell this one!

I am sure youll do a good clean job with the trimming... but i wanted to mention i saw a 1st gen yesterday and some people just shouldnt be allowed near a sawzall. Why ruin fenders on street trucks when they make lifts?

My fenders are wrecked anyways, the driver side is rotted and passenger side is dented and rippled badly.

I was talking about trimming the plastic moldings, not that actual metal itself. but even if i do have to trim the metal, i will do it good

It will never go offroad so i don't have to worry about lack of suspension travel LOL.

this truck is MINE- not one of those ones we bought to fix and sell. i will have this truck when I die hopefully a long time from now

I trimmed the plastic on mine... that little "nubbin" that sticks out near the end of the mouldings wanted to touch my tires. nothing wrong with trimming that. i just felt like mentioning the hack id seen lol

I can't believe how nice it rides. the rear bags and front leaf springs really really make a difference i guess. it rides like a lifted caddy

the tires are load class D and have huge sidewalls which i guess could make it ride nice too

Are you guys changing your ring and pinion sets when you install such large tires?

Must really kill your acceleration.

Brandon,

Truck looks nice,
Is your speedometer working?

My speedometer is about 4mph off, I am going to figure out a way to get it correct again.

And no I'm not changing out my gears, with the Cummins i don't think you have to worry about it as much as you do with a gasser.

I start in 1st and row my way up the gears and don't notice a difference at all with these new tires on.

Thanks Jim and Thanks Steve. I love the way it turned out

Those big tires should provide an excellent test of all your steering linkages!

If they hold up I will give MOOG a good review.

Pull your speedo gear out and get one 3 or 4 teeth smaller than whats there.

It's usually stamped in a small circle on one side of the gear, or the other.

Mark.

I never use 1st unless I'm loaded. 2nd gear, no throttle with 33s. But I am running 4.10s. Working to step up to 37s for a little more MPHs when pulling in 4th.
