I thought IKE was going to create a rise in fuel prices??
Walmart in Durant was 3.72 a gallon yesterday. That's a drop of $.10 a gallon from last week.
A guy at work said gas was down over $.20 a gallon??

It did...all through the Southeast, wherever Ike didn't hit.

It's crazy. In the Hurricane Ike thread, they're talking about gas in the low 3s around the Houston area. But I was in Florida this week and saw reg unleaded around $4.

You know this was not out of the goodness of their hearts to keep prices down in South Texas. Someone was threatened by someone. Don't know who, but I'm proud of them.

It's in the papers. Anyone seeing high, gouging prices has been advised to take a cell phone pic of the price board and send it in to FEMA or some govt. agency.
Maybe sellers are worried about being investigated........ which indicates to me we have been overcharged for a long time!
Further evidence for this fact is the price of fuel futures. Gas futures were around $2.50 a gallon last week.

Methinks it's supply & demand - lots of folks weren't in that part of TX and therefore unable to purchase fuel... or maybe it was just the Palin Effect.

Back to the thread subject............

Who all is up for going to Houston? I talked with the Williams family a couple of days ago and they are looking forward to our visit and promise to take good care of us (as usual).

Since HRP is a one day event, it would be going down on Friday for a night of food, drink and fun, Saturday at the track and then back to the Williams place for more hospitality.

Still tossing this around in my head... Really think if I go the truck will have to stay behind.... Really dont think I can stomach $200+ for one day in Houston...

May have to bum a ride with somebody heading south and split some costs or jump in the Jetta.. or.. watch all the youtube vids afterwards and call it good!

I would like to go......... just need to wait till around the 1st to know for sure... see how the national economic forcast affects my cash flow.

Definately taking my truck, if I go.
Going to a DHRA event without your truck is like going to an NFL game without a tailgate!

I'm still on the fence here too, mainly I think I'm pretty sure I'm going, but not sure how I'll get there, take the truck or ride down. I do need to meet up with at least Brian to get him talked into helping me putting in the remote system. I guess I could meet Brian somewhere and give him a ride and trade the trip for installation.

We'll be going for sure if IKE didn't blow away our customers on the schedule down there... otherwise, maybe???

(still trying to get the trucks ready, though!)
